Our Repair Techs

 

Eckroth Music has experienced repair technicians who are musicians in their own right. This means they're not only qualified because of their technical skills, but they're qualified because they personally know the importance of keeping instruments in top shape.

We're proud of the talents of our repair staff, and we'd like to introduce them so you know that when you bring an instrument to Eckroth Music to be repaired, you know you're getting the best service in the region.

Montana

Dan Charney (Billings)
Dan attended the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire majoring in music-liberal arts and is certified in instrument repair from Red Wing VTI. He has an extensive performing background on various instruments in almost every genre of music. Dan has continued his repair education on woodwind, brasswind, percussion, the violin family and guitars by working with many industry leaders and repair/restoration specialists.
 
Sara Charney (Billings)
Sara attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire as a music education major and is certified in Band Instrument Repair from Red Wing VTI. Sara repairs woodwind, brass, and string instruments and specializes in flute and piccolo repair. Her musical background includes playing flute, piccolo, bass flute, and percussion in concert bands, orchestras, and church groups. She currently plays with the Contemporary Group, Adult Choir and other ensembles at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Billings.
 
Mike Streich (Bozeman)
Mike is a graduate of Minot State University with a degree in music education. He is certified in band instrument repair by the Red Wing VTI and has over 20 years of experience. Mike has served as a clinician on repair for the Montana Music Educators and has presented Repair Clinics for the Collegiate Music Educators in Montana.
 

North Dakota

Drew Larson (Bismarck)
Drew Larson is a graduate of Minnesota State University – Moorhead with a degree in trumpet performance. Drew is certified in Band Instrument Repair by Renton Technical College in Renton, WA. After repairing and performing in Seattle for two years, Drew decided to return to his native state. He looks forward to serving the community’s musical needs and future performing opportunities. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, motorcycling, snow and water skiing.
 
Tulsa Lundberg (Fargo)
Tulsa Lundberg is a graduate of Minot State University and holds a horn performance degree. She also received her Band Instrument Repair Diploma from Minnesota State College Southeast in Red Wing, MN. She looks forward to being able to serve the music community through her skills in repair. Tulsa enjoys playing her horn in ensembles in the Fargo/Moorhead area and also enjoys reading and growing plants.
 
Richard Sherman (Fargo)
Richard joined the Eckroth Repair team from Kansas City with 42 years of repair experience under his belt. He attended Kansas University and University of Missouri, Kansas City, and has repaired instruments for many national artists such as Phil Woods, John Williams, The Count Basie Band, Rick Braun and Phyllis Diller as well as local jazz, blues, and symphony artists.
 

Minnesota

Jeff Kleinert(Metro/St. Cloud)

Jeff Kleinert received his bachelor’s degree from Winona State University in the field of Music Business. After graduation, he started his employment with Eckroth Music in the sales department. He worked with our metro team for three years and gained an interest in band instrument repair. After conversations with the managers, it was decided that he would be given an opportunity to grow that interest. He has been learning on the job alongside our other seasoned repair technicians and has been a part of the St. Cloud team for a year. Jeff currently focuses on repairing brass instruments but is learning the intricacies of woodwinds and strings as well.

Brady Vossler (St.Cloud)
Brady started with Eckroth Music in 2015 as a part time Retail Sales Professional in our Fargo store. Since that time he has graduated from Minnesota State University- Moorhead and moved into our repair department. He has worked with our repair technician in Fargo for several years and has learned on the job. In 2018 Brady moved to our St Cloud location where he is a full time Repair Technician.
 
Roger Ferrell (Metro)
Roger retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the US Air Force Band career field after 26 years of active duty performing on clarinet, saxophone, and flute as a soloist, guest clinician, adjudicator, and in a variety of musical ensembles to audiences across the US and overseas in Europe, Central America, Asia, and Austrailia. He graduated with honors in 2005 from the Band Instrument Repair program at Minnesota State College Southeast Technical at Red Wing, and also holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree, Magnum cum Laude, from Emporia State University in Kansas. Besides his military service, he has also been a band director in Kansas and a professional musician in civilian life.  Currently, he performs on clarinet and saxophone in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
 
Sam Skavnek (Metro)
Sam has a degree in music from the University of Minnesota (2018) as well as a Repair Diploma from the band instrument repair program at Red Wing (2013). Sam has been with Eckroth Music since fall of 2016, but has been active in the repair field since summer 2013. Additionally, Sam is an active freelance reed player in the Twin Cities, emphasizing performance of early jazz on clarinet and various saxophones.

Eau Claire

Gregory Meyers
Greg transfers as our brass and woodwind technician from the Morgan Music partnership at our newest location in Eau Claire. He brings 39 years of experience in band instrument repair and prior to his trade, was a Trumpet Specialist in the 74th US Army Band, Indianapolis and Band Director for the Warren School District in Indiana. He is a graduate of the Red Wing Band Instrument VTI, holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Masters of Science in Music degree from Butler University in Indiana. In his spare time, Greg enjoys gardening, landscaping, and making lamps, planters and other musical crafts from old instruments that are no longer repairable.
